The Benefits of Switching to a Smart Phone

By Gareth Jale

According to the CDC's National Center for Health Statistics, more families are ditching their landlines than ever before. In 2007 about 13.6% of American homes relied solely on cell phones. In 2010 that number nearly doubled to 26.6%. Many people are wondering if home phone lines are on their way to extinction. With smart phones available to consumers, many people don't see the need for an additional home phone line.

There is more than 1 reason as to why consumers are ditching their home phones. The first reason is to cut costs. Almost everyone nowadays has a smart phone. There are even some children who receive mobile phones as soon as they are able to use them. Since almost everyone in the family will have a smart phone there is no need for house phone because everyone will have their own phone. The fact is most families refuse to pay for any unnecessary service. many young teens and adults will also never pay for a landline when they have their cell phones. When leaving their parent's home, many young adults don't even consider purchasing home phone service.

Another reason why families are choosing to get rid of their landlines is because smart phones are inexpensive. Smart phones are more inexpensive than basic cellphones. The thing with smart phones is that you get most of the features for free and the only thing that you are really paying for is the calling, text and data service. When using this device, most users will also purchase cell phone accessories like a case and a screen protector. Some families decide to ditch their landline to make their phone bills more affordable. In fact, recent statistics have shown that landlines are one of the first expenses to be cut.

However, cost is not the only reason families are switching to smart phones. Owners started to wise up and came to the conclusion that if a landline was not needed then there is no point to keep it. Home phones used to be a great way to stay connected but smart phones now add more convenience like the ability to call when you're not home. A smart phone offers voicemail, call waiting, caller ID, and other popular services.

The LG Thrill also offers many features that home phones do not. When using this smart phone, consumers can play games, browse the internet, listen to their favorite songs, take pictures, download useful apps, and communicate with friends and family. The bottom line is that mobile devices have multiple uses that make them simply put, better than other devices. When using a certain LG accessories, like a car mount, these LG Thrill accessories also double as a navigation system.
