Green spaces, roads' and a modified movable bridge at the confluence of the Grand Canal
Mayor Giuliano Pisapia and Spa Expo 2015 to Joseph Hall in recent days have presented at Palazzo Marino, the long-awaited redevelopment of the dock in Milan. The redevelopment plan has been described by architects Edward Guazzoni Sandro Rossi, who won the ideas competition organized by the Municipality of Milan. Expo 2015, the Company will then be to implement it, with a planned investment of around 17 million euros. The calls for the redevelopment of the dock will be launched by June 2012, while the start of works is planned for early 2013 to be completed by December 2014.
The Dock is a symbolic place in Milan and his makeover is part of a larger project for the restructuring of urban green spaces, strengthening the networks of soft mobility and retraining of the hydrographic network of the city directly involving also the site of the Universal . Seeing in the specific interventions under the project, the first new waterway linking the canal that surrounds the site of Expo 2015 at the center of the city, entering in the Canal Grande. West is scheduled landing a new floor for the entrance to the Wharf and Belvedere Square General Cantore, but also conservation work of Spanish portions of walls and a bridge between the two sides, complemented by garden areas.
To the north bank of the intervention is intended primarily to return to the spaces along the side walk along the Via Gabriele D'Annunzio, with an extension of the platform designed for small events and shows. New trees, a swing bridge at the confluence of the Naviglio Grande and maintenance of the fountain basin Viarenna are the activities planned for the southern shore.
The Piazza XXIV Maggio will see the birth of a new body of water, with the partial reopening of Ticinello under the door of the neoclassical Cagnola and return the square to walk and to bike, with new roads and green spaces.
